The gallery concept was founded in Capitola Village in August of 2019 with the name, Curated [by the Sea]. During the strange and chaotic summer of 2020, we regrouped and relocated to a large, 4600 sq. ft. empty storefront located in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz. We have spent the years transforming the space into a bright, spacious art gallery and rebranded as M.K. Contemporary Art.We now showcase the work of 40+ local and regional artists. In addition, we exhibit a rotating series of themed shows and special events. We are becoming known for our quirky, eclectic, yet elegant collection of contemporary art inspired by the unique natural beauty and creative culture that is Santa Cruz.
